    Ah, Valentine's Day!

Whether you love it or not, there's no denying that it's a day when love takes center stage.

A day filled with love, affection, and sweet treats. While the holiday has its fair share of commercial clichés, it doesn't mean we can't express our love more personally and meaningfully.

You're craving a rich, velvety chocolate dessert but dread the thought of unhealthy ingredients and complicated steps.

What if I told you that I have a recipe that checks all the boxes for a decadent, nutritious treat?

    Look no further!

Today, I'm going to share with you my recipe for avocado chocolate mousse.

It's an easy, no-cook recipe and packed with nutrition, making it the perfect guilt-free indulgence for any occasion.

    Origins

Chocolate avocado mousse has been gaining popularity in recent years as a healthier alternative to traditional chocolate mousse.

Some believe it was inspired by traditional Mexican and Central American cuisine, where avocados are often used as a base for sweet dishes.

This unique spin on classic chocolate mousse takes advantage of the avocado's creamy texture and subtle flavor, allowing the chocolate to take center stage.

Plus, it's so healthy that you can even serve it to your kids without feeling guilty. And let's not forget how fancy it looks!

    • Nutritious: Packed with healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals from the avocado, this mousse is a guilt-free pleasure.
    • Kid-friendly: Trick your kids into eating healthy by presenting this delicious treat.
    • Simple ingredients: Only a handful of readily available ingredients are required.
    • Decadent: Satisfy your chocolate cravings with this intensely rich mousse.
    • Impressive: Wow your guests with this elegant yet simple dessert.

    Ingredients

    • avocado
    • cocoa powder
    • vanilla extract
    • honey or maple syrup
    • Pinch of fine salt
    • Optional toppings: fresh berries, crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or chocolate shavings

    Tips

    • Use ripe avocados for the best texture and flavor.
    • Use high-quality cocoa powder for a richer, more intense chocolate flavor.
    • Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less honey/maple syrup.
    • If the mousse is too thick, add a bit of milk to help it blend more smoothly.

    Serving Suggestions

    • Serve chilled, topped with fresh berries or crushed nuts.
    • Pair with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an even more indulgent treat.
    • Add a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra flair.

    Substitutions

    • If you're not a fan of cocoa powder, use melted dark chocolate instead.
    • Replace honey with agave syrup or date syrup for a vegan option.

    Equipment:

    • Food processor
    • Spatula
    • Small bowls or tea cups for serving

    FAQs:

Can I taste the avocado in the mousse?

No, the chocolate flavor completely takes over, and the avocado lends its creamy texture without any noticeable taste.

How long does this mousse keep in the fridge?

It will last up to 3 days, but I doubt it'll stick around that long!

    Ingredients

    • 1 large ripe avocado about 9 oz. after pitting & peeling
    • 4 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 2 tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 2 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
    • Pinch of fine salt

    Optional toppings:

    • fresh berries crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or chocolate shavings
    • A splash of your favorite liqueur such as Kahlua, Frangelico, or Amaretto
    • A sprinkle of ground cinnamon or nutmeg for added warmth and flavor
    • A few teaspoons of milk dairy or non-dairy to adjust the consistency, if needed

    Instructions

    • Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the stone, and scoop out the flesh, placing it into the bowl of your food processor.
    • Add a pinch of fine sea salt, followed by the unsweetened cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, and pure vanilla extract.
    • Process the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy, pausing to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure even mixing.
    • Taste the mousse and adjust the sweetness or flavorings to your preference. If the consistency is too thick, add a small amount of milk to achieve the desired texture.
    • Transfer the chocolate mousse into individual serving bowls or teacups, and cover them before placing them in the refrigerator to chill for at least 15 minutes (if you can wait that long!).
    • Before serving, garnish the mousse with your choice of optional toppings, such as fresh berries, crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or chocolate shavings. Enjoy your delectable, guilt-free dessert! The mousse can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but it's unlikely to last that long!
