Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe avocado about 9 oz. after pitting & peeling
  • 4 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • Pinch of fine salt

Optional toppings:

  • fresh berries crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or chocolate shavings
  • A splash of your favorite liqueur such as Kahlua, Frangelico, or Amaretto
  • A sprinkle of ground cinnamon or nutmeg for added warmth and flavor
  • A few teaspoons of milk dairy or non-dairy to adjust the consistency, if needed

Instructions

  • Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the stone, and scoop out the flesh, placing it into the bowl of your food processor.
  • Add a pinch of fine sea salt, followed by the unsweetened cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, and pure vanilla extract.
  • Process the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy, pausing to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure even mixing.
  • Taste the mousse and adjust the sweetness or flavorings to your preference. If the consistency is too thick, add a small amount of milk to achieve the desired texture.
  • Transfer the chocolate mousse into individual serving bowls or teacups, and cover them before placing them in the refrigerator to chill for at least 15 minutes (if you can wait that long!).
  • Before serving, garnish the mousse with your choice of optional toppings, such as fresh berries, crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or chocolate shavings. Enjoy your delectable, guilt-free dessert! The mousse can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but it's unlikely to last that long!
