Chicken Tawook Recipe (Lebanese chicken skewers)

This Lebanese shish tawook recipes is full of amazing flavors and is grilled to perfection. These Middle Eastern skewers are made with marinated chicken breasts and served either wrapped in pita bread or with other Lebanese condiments and dishes.

2-3 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts ½ cup whole milk plain yogurt 1 lemon juiced 6 cloves garlic minced 2 tablespoons tomato paste 2 teaspoons paprika ½ teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon oregano ¾ teaspoon ground ginger 2 teaspoons salt ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Cut the chicken into bite size pieces for skewering, about 1 inch pieces, and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Measure out the yogurt and mix in all of the spices, lemon juice and tomato paste. Add it to the chicken, stirring it until well coated.
Cover and let the chicken marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours.
Put the chicken pieces evenly onto 6 or 7 skewers.
Grill the marinated chicken skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning every 3 minutes or so until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
