Blackberry Chocolate Chips Ice Cream

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Ice cream maker
  • Freezer-safe container
  • Mixing bowls

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar divided
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Blend blackberries with ¼ cup sugar until smooth. Strain if desired.
  • Whisk together cream, milk, remaining sugar, and vanilla.
  • Stir in blackberry puree.
  • Chill mixture for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Churn in ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Add chocolate chips in the last few minutes of churning.
  • Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze until firm, about 4-6 hours.

Notes

  • For a more intense blackberry flavor, reserve some whole berries and add them during the last few minutes of churning.
  • If the ice cream is too hard, let it sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before scooping
